There were interesting comments from three gentlemen regarding events in 2012 and what they hope for in 2013.
I refer, of course, to the New Year messages from our ‘leader’, Mayor and MP.
Coun Bedford refers to a hectic year! If he had got out into the town, along with several of his party colleagues, he might have found it more hectic; especially if he had heard from ratepayers what they thought of their efforts so far. Very few that I speak to think a good job is being done, despite what Coun Bedford says.
Both he and the Mayor mentioned the success of the Diamond Jubilee, but didn’t mention the fact that if it was a success it certainly wasn’t down to their efforts. Oh, I forgot the splendid fountain and the follow-up. Very successful!
Our MP now claims he can ensure “my constituents’ interests are represented at the heart of Government” now he has been promoted to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. I fail to see how Bostonians will benefit; mind you, he can now perhaps put in a strong word for a bypass – providing he gets the OK from our masters in Lincoln.
If the words spoken are to be accepted in the same way we accepted what was said at recent elections, I’m afraid I don’t foresee any improvements for this
year.
I’ve recently had it mentioned to me that some people are wondering why the council is still putting money into
the PRSA.
It doesn’t seem right that ratepayers are supporting a facility down there, especially when others in the town are struggling.
Or is this part of the grand plan from the council – that they are to support local enterprise with regular payments?
