Could you win a share of Community Chest money?

Gill Williamson from Boston Community Transport being presented with a cheque for £1,000 from Richard Tory, chairman of Boston Big Local's Residents Panel.

The second round of the group’s Community Chest initiative has been opened and is available to residents who have an innovative idea, which may need a cash boost to make it happen and to charities and to community groups who may need some additional support to carry out their services.

Co-ordinator Jody Raggo said: “Learning from our first round and listening to the feedback from the applicants, we have revised our application form and guidance notes clarifying our application process and criteria to make it easier for people and community groups to apply and show within their application the benefits they could bring to the residents in the Boston Big Local area.

“We also want to support participation in community life and hopefully inspire people to volunteer and, to do this the panel have identified the possibility that some community groups may need some additional support with their overall running costs, such as paying volunteer expenses.

“With this in mind, we want to encourage groups that meet Boston Big Local’s priorities and support residents within the area to apply.”

The latest round runs until March 2017 with a maximum of £18,000 being given away over the next 18 months. The deadline for applications is Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at 5pm.

Residents of any age can apply for a grant as long as it meets one of the four Boston Big Local priorities: improving health and wellbeing, creating a more attractive environment, building community spirit and encouraging enterprise.

as volunteer expenses for groups.
