Plans have been submitted for another off-licence in Kirton which, if passed, will make it the fifth one in the village.
An application for change of use for the old car sales premises and showroom at 47 London Road, has been submitted to Boston Borough Council’s planning department.
There has previously been concern among villagers about the number of off-licences in the village – after a fourth was controversially approved in November last year after an appeal..
The proposed site has been vacant for three years.
The applicant, Miss A McNeish, of Boston, proposes to use the site as a convenience store selling ‘a range of products’ to include fresh and frozen food, tobacco, alcohol, confectionary and the Lottery.
The application notes there is already sufficient car parking spaces on site due to its previous use.The structure of the building would not be altered.
The Standard asked what people thought of the plans via our Facebook page.
Callum Butler said: “iIwould have thought four was too many.”
But Chris Maddison wrote: “It is good it will create extra competition and hopefully more sensible prices,” and Tim Leyshon simply said: “More the merrier!”
