Concerns were raised by members of the public yesterday after a toddler was found wandering alone in the town.
Police said they were called at 3.45pm to reports of the two-year-old child in St Nicholas Road, Boston.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesman explained: “We were alerted that a child had been found. He was taken into the care of a police officer who then made enquiries to try and find out where he lived.
“In the meantime his mother called to report him missing.”
The spokesman said the child had managed to get out of the home following a ‘miscommunication’ between the family member watching him while his mum was out on the school run.
The report comes after comments made on social media that a young boy was found alone at the skatepark on Skirbeck Road.
The boy, who turns three next month, was unharmed and has been reunited with his family.
