A referendum will be held in Wyberton as to whether residents will support or oppose the Quadrant but not until the planning application goes in.
At a meeting of the parish council last night (Tuesday), Sue Bell, of the Wyberton Quadrant Action Group, called for the referendum and got more than the 10 people legally required to support her - meaning the parish council would have to comply with the wishes of the electorate.
However, parish council chairman Coun John Chester convinced a majority of those present to vote to wait until the application for the Quadrant is submitted so the referendum could be held when more details were known.
More than 100 people attended the meeting last night, however not all of the 156 seats were filled meaning less people attended than when David Newton spoke to the parish at an open meeting last month.
Boston Borough Council’s development control manager Paul Edwards also attended last night’s meeting to explain some of the planning processes behind the development.
See next week’s Standard for more on the meeting.
