A concert by the Coningsby Military Wives Choir has raised £1,600 to help with the upkeep of St Mary and the Holy Rood Church at Donington.

Around 230 people attended to enjoy glorious voices and a picture-perfect setting.

Church events secretary Carol Holt said: “The church looked lovely because we had our flower festival on at the same time.”

The choir’s programme featured modern music.

Carol said: “One of our committee members had been to a concert somewhere else and seen the Digby Military Wives Choir and she said how nice it was – so we tried for the Coningsby one as it’s a bit closer and they agreed to come.”
