East Lindsey District Council says it will listen to to the voice of taxpayers after the Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service (LCVS) hit out at possibly missing out on authority funding.

Portfolio holder for partnerships Coun Graham Marsh said: “There’s no getting away from the fact the district council has to save £6m from its running costs over the next four years as Government funding to support local services continues to reduce.

“The council has already been clear that it can’t provide or fund all the services it once could and difficult decisions need to be made.

“The Transformation Programme lists a range of projects the Council is considering that could help to achieve the budget reductions needed and LCVS, and other interested parties, including residents, are being asked for their views as part of the current consultation.

“This consultation isn’t about whether the work of LCVS is valuable – it’s about what services the council can afford to provide and commission.”
