A WISH has been granted for a Boston couple to see family on the other side of the world – just in time to meet their new grandchild.

Aptly-named Phil and Lyn Pay, of Church Road, were chosen as winners of Clintons’ nationwide competition that invited people to share their one Christmas wish last year.

The Pay’s wish was simply to visit their son and daughter in Australia, one of which they have not seen in five years. However, getting Down Under has since become far more urgent, following the news they were to become grandparents for the first time.

“I was sceptical when I received a phone call from Clintons,” said Phil. “This is the first competition I have entered so I never expected to win.”

He added: “We can’t thank Clinton Cards enough for giving us the opportunity to visit both our son and daughter in Australia – and it’ll be an extra-special trip now that we’re expecting our first grandchild.”

Claire Bates, Clintons PR and social media manager said: “We couldn’t be happier for the Pay family and are thrilled to be able to help in reuniting their family at such an exciting time for them.”

The couple picked up their check from Clinton Cards store in Boston’s Pescod Square.

Other winners have also been celebrating in Pescod Square.

The shopping centre gave shoppers the chance to win several prizes.

Sasha Philips won a £100 giftcard which she chose to spend at Peacocks. Nathan Ellis from Boston won a £50 giftcard for HMV.
