ALCOHOLIC shoplifter Arkadiusr Richard Radwan was thirsty so he went to a shop and stole a bottle of spirits.
Boston Magistrates’ Court was told on Wednesday that the manager of one of the the Co-op store’s saw Radwan pick up the bottle of alcohol and hide it behind his back before he walked out without paying.
Marie Stace, prosecuting, said Radwan was identified and arrested by police two days later.
“He said he was thirsty and entered the store with the intention to steal,” Miss Stace said.
Radwan, 28, of Boston Road, Boston, admitted shop theft on May 23.
Sasha Waxman, representing, said Radwan has a serious alcoholic problem and all of his offending to date has been alcohol related or motivated.
“He has been in denial about his problem but he has been told that he has serious liver damage and that frightened the life out of him. It really is a matter of life and death that he stops drinking,” she said.
Magistrates imposed a community order with 12 months supervision and a six month alcohol treatment order. He also has to pay Co-op Stores £17 compensation.
