An ambulance driver accused of causing the death of a patient he was transporting has appeared before Boston Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday).

Garth Green, 63, of Nelson Way, Grimsby, pleaded not guilty to the charge of causing the death of Margaret Allsop, of Sutton on Sea, by careless or inconsiderate driving on December 12 last year.

Mrs Allsop was in the ambulance when it ended up in a ditch on the A16, Boston Road, Sibsey.

Green, who was represented by Roy Foreman of Roy Foreman and Co. Solicitors, Grimsby, spoke only to confirm his name, address and plea.

The public gallery was filled by family and friends.

Magistrates decided to hold the case in their jurisdiction and adjourned the case for a pre-trial review on September 16 at 10am and Green was released on summons for the case, but not required to attend.
