Boston man charged with robbery after members of public come to woman’s aid

A man has been charged with robbery after he was chased down by two members of the public who stopped to help the victim.

Danny Robert Walden, 50, of Frampton Place, Boston appeared before magistrates yesterday, Friday January 1, and was remanded in custody following the robbery which took place on Thursday, December 31 between 11:15am and 11:30am in Broadfield Lane, Boston.

The victim, a 66-year-old Boston woman, shouted for assistance as the suspect ran off with her bag.

A car stopped, two Polish men got out chased the suspect detaining him. A woman also got out of the vehicle and waited with the victim. Police attended the scene but the people from the car left the area without giving their details.

The suspect was apprehended by police and has been charged with this robbery and similar offence also committed in Boston on December 29.

The Crown prosecution Service (CPS) have asked police investigators to try to trace the occupants of the vehicle so that a request can be made for them to provide witness statements.
