The suspension of the counties leading police officer is to be investigated by a ‘cross-party’ task group following a meeting of the Lincolnshire Police and Crime Panel today (Thursday).
The group, which will be chaired by independent panel member Chris Cook, will ‘explore the circumstances and implications’ resulting from police and crime commissioner Alan Hardwick’s decision to suspend temporary chief constable Neil Rhodes.
Mr Cook said: “There has been significant interest in the recent situation and I’ve been tasked with leading the working group to fully explore what has happened and how we can support the Commissioner in his role by helping to ensure such situations don’t re-occur.
“This work will be thorough and we will be asking challenging questions before reporting back to the Lincolnshire Police and Crime Panel later in the year.”
The cross political party group will consider the events surrounding the decision and what lessons can be learnt and will report its findings in September.
