Conman swiped woman’s necklace

Police are reminding people to be aware when approached by street traders following a theft on Saturday.

A woman and her husband were walking near Lloyds bank at about 2.30pm.

They were approached by two males and while one engaged the woman in conversation, the other tried to get the man to buy a necklace and placed it on his neck before appearing to take it off and they walked towards Boots.

It was later found they had switched the husband’s £200 necklace for a different one.

One man is described as five foot high, medium height, broad build,with black hair in his late 30s, the other is similar with longer hair and in his late 20s.

They were wearing blue clothes.
