Crown court appearance for trio charged with murder

THREE men charged with the murder of a Polish man in Boston have today appeared at Lincoln Crown Court.

Slawomir Dziob, Piotr Szymon Firlit and Bartlomiej Marszalkiewicz are accused of murdering Jan Pawel Stochnialek, whose body was discovered in South Forty Foot Drain two weeks ago.

Lincolnshire Police believe 28-year-old Mr Stochnialek was the victim of assault before he died.

None of the trio entered pleas when they appeared in the dock and spoke only to confirm their names during a five minute hearing.

Dziob, 34, of Hadley Street, Salford, was arrested in Manchester, and Firlit, 23, and Marszalkiewicz, 25, both of Fieldfare Croft, in Boston, were arrested in King’s Lynn.

All three were charged at the end of last week.

There were no bail applications and Judge Michael Heath adjourned the case for a plea and case management hearing at Lincoln Crown Court in May.

All three were remanded into custody. Judge Heath told them: “You will each next appear at this court on May 25 when you will be asked to enter a plea to the allegations you face.”

Father-of-one Mr Stochnialek, formerly of Albert Street, Boston, was found dead in the waterway off Wyberton West Road on Wednesday, January 25.

He had been living in Boston for a number of months and was last seen alive at around 5pm on Christmas Eve.

Police are still appealing for information about his movements since that time to discover more about the circumstances which led to his death.

Anyone with information should call 101.
