Duo plead not guilty to 26 HMO charges

Dr Kola Akindele, 54, and Vanessa Akindele, 51, pleaded not guilty to the charges at Boston Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

They were unrepresented during their appearance, but told magistrates that they were seeking a solicitor to represent them but had to cross financial hurdles first.

Prosecuting the pair was Ruksana Munir who said they both faced the 26 charges.

The charges centre around a property at 17 Main Ridge West, in Boston, and are for dates between May 21 and October 17:

They both face two charges of managing a House in Multiple Occupation without a license.

They both also face 23 allegations each of failing to comply with regulations in respect of managing a HMO.

Both are also charged with failing to comply with a noticed served by the local authority to provide information relating to the Local Government Act 1976 within 14 days.

The Akindele’s, who gave a mailing address of North Brink, Wisbech, and a living address of Sutton Road, Leverington, were set an interim hearing date of March 18, at Boston Magistrates’ Court.
