Police have praised the ‘brave’ victims who helped bring an ‘evil man to justice’ after he was sentenced to 24 years in prison.

Michael Baggaley, 70, of Lindis Road, Boston, appeared before Lincoln Crown Court yesterday (Thursday), for sentencing, after he was found guilty of three offences of assaulting a child, four offences of gross indecency with a girl under 16 years-of-age and two offences of the rape of a female aged under 16.

The jury delivered unanimous verdicts on all counts and judge Michael Heath sentenced him to 24 years in prison.

Lincolnshire Police press officer Dick Holmes said: “This was a harrowing case for the victims.

“We salute their bravery in coming forward and providing the evidence which has brought this evil man to justice.

“Hopefully they will now find the strength to move on with their lives.”
