Hammer-wielding cyclist attempts to smash open Boston jewellery shop window

A MAN on a bicycle has attempted to smash open a Boston jewellery shop window with a hammer.

The attempted burglary took place in West Street at 9.25am on Good Friday.

The offender cracked the glass, but was unable to access the display and cycled off towards High Street where it is believed he turned right in the direction of Haven Bridge.

He is described as white, between 5ft 5ins and 6ft tall and aged up to 25-years-old.

He was wearing dark jogging bottoms, a grey hooded top with the hood up, a baseball cap under the hood and a black scarf obscuring all his face except his eyes.

He was riding a small silver bike and carrying a black bag. Witnesses have reported the man as appearing large for the size of the bike.
