A man stole three joints of beef from Asda so he could cook a Boxing Day meal for visiting family, Boston Magistrates’ Court was told.

Jodie Zieske, of King Street, Boston, was seen in the Lister Way store ‘acting suspiciously’, the prosecution said on Wednesday. CCTV staff then saw him trying to take the items.

Rebecca Ritson, prosecuting, said he had 22 theft matters on his record.

In mitigation, John Storer said the 36-year-old had take the food as he and his housemate did not have enough money to buy food for the celebratory meal.

Zieske admitted theft on December 24. Probation reports were requested.
