POLICE were called to the petrol station on Sleaford Road last night (Thursday) following a heated exchange between customers and staff.
Officers were called to the Applegate station at about 10.30pm to two customers causing a disturbance and holding up the queue.
A police spokesman said they were shouting and refusing to leave and said the disagreement was over the ‘social skills of the staff behind the counter.’
They said: “Someone put fuel in their car, put their engine on but the gauge didn’t go up so they went in and had a go at the people behind the counter who then had a go back.
“It was a customer services issue which got out of hand.”
Customers were queued to get petrol at the 24-hour garage at the time of the incident and it was taking up to 40 minutes for people to fill-up.
