Lap dance customer assaulted after accidental collision

A customer felled another man with one blow after an accidental collision inside a lap dancing club, Lincoln Crown Court was told on Friday.
Gary Jacques reacted angrily after he was bumped into and then had his toe trodden on while he was drinking in the Dream Girls club in Craythorne Lane, Boston.
Jeremy Janes, prosecuting, said Jacques took exception to the incident involving a couple on the dance floor.
“He got and remonstrated with them. He then struck a single punch which knocked out the complainant before running out of the club.
“The complainant remained unconscious on the floor for the past three or four minutes. He was assisted to his feet and later to an ambulance.”
The injured man was taken to hospital where he was found to have serious facial injuries. The victim was later off work for five weeks as a result of his injuries.
Jacques ,21, of St Mary’s Way, Old Leake, admitted a charge of grievous bodily harm as a result of the incident on 5 November.
He was jailed for 14 months and given an 18 month anti social behaviour order which bans him from entering any on-licensed premises in Lincolnshire between 8pm and 6 am and also bans him from entering Boston town centre during the same period.
Judge Sean Morris told him: “When you are in drink you are a bully and you are prone to thuggish behaviour.
“You are a very large, powerfully built man, Your victim was completely harmless. There he was enjoying himself. He bumped into and without any reason whatsoever you floored him.”
Neil Sands, defending, said Jacques accepts he has a drink problem and was prepared to comply with an ASBO as it would help keep his drinking under control.
“Whilst he acted ridiculously foolishly on that might he is not beyond redemption. He recognises that he and alcohol do not mix. When he is sober he is hard working.”
