Man arrested for ‘trying to kill people with fire’

A man was arrested in Boston on suspicion of ‘arson with intent to endanger life’ in the early hours of this morning.

The incident took place in Oxford Street at about 4.20am, with crews called to a front door on fire.

The building was evacuated, with two people having to be taken to safety.

Police say the fire is being treated as deliberate and a 22-year-old suspect was arrested nearby.

He remains at Boston Police Station where he will be interviewed later and a scene guard is in place at the address while evidence is gathered.
