A 32-YEAR-OLD man, who lives locally, was assaulted on High Street yesterday afternoon (Monday).
Police were called to High Street South, near to APS Glazing, at around 4.40pm, and officers remained at the site throughout the evening.
An appeal has now gone out for witnesses to the incident.
Det Sgt Karl Whiffen said: “The incident took place at just before 4.40pm yesterday, so it is likely that there would have been a number of pedestrians and motorists passing at the time.
“The victim suffered head injuries which required hospital treatment. He remains in hospital this morning (Tuesday). His condition is currently stable. We are currently reviewing CCTV footage of the area and would be grateful if anyone who saw the incident or knows anything about it would get in touch.”
