Man attempts smash and grab at jewellery shop

A CYCLIST armed with a hammer has attempted to raid a Boston jewellery shop.

The offender tried to smash open the window of the West Street shop after approaching it on a bicycle.

He succeeded only in cracking the glass and eventually cycled off towards High Street, where it is believed he turned right in the direction of Haven Bridge.

The attempted smash and grab took place at 9.25am on Good Friday.

The suspect is described as white, between 5ft 5ins and 6ft tall and aged up to 25. He was wearing dark jogging bottoms, a grey hooded top with the hood up, a baseball cap and a black scarf obscuring all of his face except his eyes.

He was riding a small silver bike and carrying a black bag.
