A BOSTON man has today (Wednesday) appeared at Lincoln Crown Court charged with the murder of a father-of-three in the town.

Janusz Smoderek, 48, was found stabbed in a garden in Sleaford Road, Boston, on September 11.

Stephen Sleaford, 37, of no fixed address, was charged with Mr Smoderek’s murder after being arrested in the Barnsley area.

Wearing a grey jacket and black trousers Sleaford spoke only to confirm his name during the five minute hearing at Lincoln Crown Court.

Timothy Spencer QC, prosecuting, told the court: “Mr Sleaford has recently been charged with murder.”

There was no application for bail and Sleaford was remanded into custody until his next appearance at Lincoln Crown Court in January.

Adjourning the case Judge Michael Heath told Sleaford: “You will next appear at this court on 20 January.

“On that occasion you will be formally asked to enter a plea to the charge you face.”

Mr Smoderek lived in the Revesby Avenue area of Boston and worked at a local vegetable packing firm.
