Murder charged trio appear in court

THREE men have appeared before Boston Magistrates’ Court charged with the murder of a Polish national in Boston.

Zianek Dziob, Piotr Szymon Firlit and Bartlomiej Marszalkiewicz stood before magistrates accused of killing Jan Pawel Stochnialek, whose body was discovered in South Forty Foot Drain two weeks ago. Police believe the 28-year-old was the victim of assault before he died.

None of the trio entered pleas when they appeared in the dock on Monday, and the case has now been committed for a preliminary hearing at Lincoln Crown Court on Monday.

Dziob, 34, of Hadley Street, Salford, was arrested in Manchester on Thursday, and Firlit, 23, and Marszalkiewicz, 25, both of Fieldfare Croft, in Boston, were arrested in King’s Lynn on Friday.

All three were charged over the weekend.

Solicitors acting on behalf of the three men did not apply to the court for bail and they have all been remanded in custody until the hearing on Monday.

Father-of-one Mr Stochnialek, formerly of Albert Street, Boston, was found dead in the waterway off Wyberton West Road on Wednesday, January 25. The 28-year-old, who had been living in Boston for a number of months, was last seen alive at around 5pm on Christmas Eve. Police are still appealing for information about his movements since that time to discover more about the circumstances which led to his death.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
