Murder victim identified

POLICE have released the name of the murder victim whose body was recovered from the South Forty Foot Drain in Boston on Wednesday afternoon.
He is 28-year-old Jan Pawel Stochnialek, a Polish national who was living in the town’s Albert Street.
A police spokesman said early indications suggest that Mr Stochnialek had been the victim of an assault.
Detective Chief Insp Matt Hewson, who is leading the murder enquiry, said: “We are very keen to hear from anyone who knew Jan Pawel or who has knowledge of his whereabouts from Christmas Eve onwards.
“Although his body was found in the waterway close to the town centre, it is possible that it entered the water some distance upriver and I am appealing to anyone, such as fishermen and dog walkers, to think back over recent weeks and contact us if they recall seeing any suspicious activity along the waterway.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Lincolnshire Police on 101, quoting incident 163 of 25 January. Alternatively, you can provide information anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
