Passersby in Boston praised for helping stop robbery

POLICE have praised passersby for helping to thwart an attempted robbery in Boston.

Officers were called to Lloyds TSB in the Market Place shortly after 8am in response to a report that a 56-year-old woman had been attacked at the cash machine.

Members of the public detained a man until police arrived.

Chief insp Phil Vickers said: “Their intervention was very community-spirited and I would like to thank them for their actions.”

A 24-year-old man from High Street in Boston has been charged with attempted robbery and was due to appear at Skegness Magistrates’ Court this morning.
