Police appeal for witness to Burgess Pit Assault

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an assault which left two teenagers with cuts and grazes.

A jacket which contained a mobile phone and iPod headphones were also said to be stolen.

Two brothers, aged 17 and 19, were playing football at bout 9.45pm on Tuesday, August 16, in Burgess Pit when they began to receive abuse from three males and two females who had been drinking in the park, said police.

Officers said a ‘minor assault’ took place.

The jacket stolen was a blue Adidas one with silver stripes and contained a Nokia E63 phone and iPod headphones.

A police spokesman said there are no descriptions of the offenders other than that they were foreign nationals.
