Theft from village church

Hainton church has become the latest victim in what Lincolnshire Police say is an increase in thefts from churches within the county.

Two carved priest chairs and two wooden ceiling angels have been stolen from St Mary’s.

The two angels were under repair and did not have wings due to them being in the corner of the room. The image shown is of another angels along the ceiling for reference.

A police spokesman said: “Many thefts such as this are of items that are often hundreds of years old, hold no real value but are priceless to the congregation and of course the community. They are also often irreplaceable so are lost forever.”
