Police have released fresh CCTV footage of a dangerous sex offender in Boston after he absconded from North Sea Camp.
The clip shows 47 year-old Ivan Leach, also known as Lee Cyrus, withdrawing money from Barclays Bank in Boston’s Market Place at 9.49am on Tuesday, October 9.
After this Leach, who was in prison for robbery and had convictions for having sex with a 13-year-old and attacking someone with a screwdriver, failed to return to the open prison from day release.
Cyrus is originally from the Preston area and is known to have visited the city on a number of occasions since he absconded.
Officers also believe he has been in the Tayside area of Sctoland and a large scale nationwide manhunt is now underway to track him.
Earlier this week, CCTV footage was released of a man, thought to be Cyrus, using a Barclays Bank cash machine in Nottingham city centre at 11.13 am on October 20 and it is possible he may have returned to the Midlands.
Officers have warned Cyrus should not, under any circumstances, be approached as he poses a significant risk.
Detective Chief Inspector Steve Taylor, of Lincolnshire Police, said: “Although Cyrus’ appearance may well have changed during his time on the run, these CCTV images give the public a clear image of how he looked on October 9.
“It is possible that somebody is harbouring him or supplying him with food or money or it may be that he is living rough in makeshift shelters or garden sheds. His offending history suggests that he may seek out insecure premises and I am using this opportunity to remind our communities of the importance of protecting their properties by ensuring doors and windows are secure.
“I would also seek to reassure the public that every potential sighting of him is being followed up. We are working extremely closely with other forces on a daily basis and will continue to do so until Cyrus is apprehended”.
Cyrus is described as white; around five feet 11 inches tall, of stocky build with cropped hair and hazel eyes.
He has a distinctive scar on his top lip under his nose and two distinctive tattoos, one with the name ‘Annette’ on the bicep of his left arm and a figure of a barbarian woman on the back of his right shoulder blade.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police by calling 101.
Independent charity, Crimestoppers, is offering up to £3,000 for information leading to the arrest of Cyrus.
