A PACKED riverbank is hoped for at Boston’s first Dragonboat Festival on Sunday.
A number of teams are taking part in the event along the River Witham at Witham Way Country Park, Tattershall Road, from 10am.
They include teams from Goodbarns Yard and the Four Crossroads Garage.
There will also be a number of stalls and it is hoped more than 3,000 people will attend the event which will include other activities such as Chinese lion dancers and an outside bar and catering.
The event aims to raise money for the S. John Stevens Memorial Trust, which promotes healthy living and healthy heart charities such as The British Heart Foundation.
Money will also go to a charity of the team’s choice.
If successful, the race could become an annual event, and organiser David Witts said he had already heard from what could be a special opponent.
He said: “We’ve had an email from a team in Boston, Massachusetts, although I think they’re a professional team so we’ll have to start training early to compete.”
