Children from across the Phoenix Family of Schools were invited to Blackfriars Theatre to be recognised for their work in the Phoenix 500 writing competition awards.

Inspired by giant eggs mysteriously appearing at Gosberton Academy, Park Academy, Fishtoft Academy and Boston Pioneers Free School in November, children let their imaginations run wild as they spent the week investigating, observing, discussing and writing.

Children’s author Steve Bowkett was on hand to present the prizes after two days delivering workshops in the schools. He said: “The skills children practise when writing stories are of great benefit in so many other areas of life. It’s a true joy to see these qualities being nurtured in the Phoenix schools. It was a lovely evening, full of pride, long to be remembered.”

Overall winners were Aoife Hallam from Boston Pioneers in the Foundation Stage/year one category, Harley Warren from Park Academy in the year two/three category and Rebecca Gildenhuys from Gosberton Academy in the year four-six category.
