Borough councillors have given their approval to plans to expand St Mary’s Primary School in Swineshead by 28 places.

Lincolnshire County Council has appointed Mouchel to look at an extension to the hall that will create a new classroom space, ‘resource area’ and revamped boys toilets.

The development would create four jobs and allow the school to rise from 252 to 280 pupils.

It is thought that the new hall could also be used by the community.

The works would be to the front of the school and car park to minimise disruption and leave the playgrounds and playing fields untouched.

The borough council backs the plan, which would have to be passed by the county council but in its submission it stated: “No objections.

“However, the council has strong reservations regarding the relationship between the proposed extension and the bungalow at No.40 Abbey Road.

“We would advise you to consider the impact of the extension on the amenity of the adjoining bungalow in your determination.”
