STUDENTS at Boston College had their eyes opened to the dangers of drink driving recently, when they took part in a shocking campaign.

The motor department at the venue set up a mock accident involving two cars and live victims as part of a month-long initiative to promote awareness.

Police, ambulance and fire services attended the event to simulate a rescue, involving taking the top off one of the cars, which was donated by Wakefield Autos.

Programme leader Richard Chambers said: “It highlights the dangers of drinking and driving to a young audience - the majority of which will become drivers.”
