The head teacher of Thomas Cowley High School has said pupils have worked ‘tremendously hard’ and are a ‘credit to themselves’.

She said the school is ‘thrilled’ at how well the students have done.

Head teacher Martyn Taylor said: “Congratulations are also due to the staff at the Thomas Cowley High School who dedicate themselves to ensuring that all students can be the best that they can be. They too have worked tirelessly to help all the students achieve these outstanding results.

“The results demonstrate yet again why so many parents want their children to attend The Thomas Cowley High School. They show clearly that students of all ability are given the opportunity, the expert assistance and the individual care in order to do well.”

A total of 51 per cent of students gaining five A*-C with English and Maths, 66 per cent of students gained a C or above in Mathematics and 60 per cent of students gained a C or above in English.

Using the new method of calculation introduced for this year’s examinations, 56 per cent of students gained five A*-C grades overall – which Mr Taylor said is a ‘terrific result’.
