A harvest festival celebration was held in Swineshead St Mary’s C of E Primary School to mark the opening of its new school hall.
The harvest festival was introduced by Rob Little, executive head of the Emmaus Federation, and he thanked the wonderful support of the many parents who turned up and really filled the hall.
The festival took the form of various harvest hymns with each class doing an item concerning the harvest. The choir also sang a song and the school brass orchestra played some tunes.
Father Francis Richardson gave a talk on water and used various examples to emphasise the importance of water.
The proceeds of the service were going to WaterAid, a charity helping people in other countries who do not have running fresh water.
County and borough councillor Michael Brookes was invited by the school to perform the opening of the new hall. He spoke of his connection with school going back a number of years.
