The chief executive officer in charge of a federation of schools is currently suspended while a ‘conduct issue’ is investigated by governors.
Carol Clare, chief executive officer (CEO) and principal of The Phoenix Family of Schools (PFOS) was suspended after an allegation was ‘anonymously raised’ with the federation’s senior management.
Denzil Shepheard, the federation’s chairman of governors, said the allegation is being investigated by educational support body Mouchel.
Mr Shepheard said: “Mrs Clare was suspended last week over a conduct issue that was anonymously raised and we have commissioned our personnel and human resources advisor Mouchel to conduct an independent investigation.
“It’s a confidential issue which came to light recently, but the suspension isn’t an admission of guilt and Mrs Clare is on leave while the investigation goes on.
“An allegation has been made, action has been taken, an investigation is under way and when it’s completed in the shortest possible time, a hearing will take place with directors and they will come to a decision.”
The Phoenix Federation includes Park, Gosberton, Fishtoft, and Boston Pioneers Free School academies and Phoenix Kindergarten.
Mr Shepheard said: “Mrs Clare’s suspension is disappointing but we’re following the correct procedures in doing what we’ve done and in the way we’ve done it.
“The investigation won’t impact on the daily workings of the schools at all and arrangements are in place whereby the three most senior people in the PFOS organisation are sharing Mrs Clare’s responsibilities.”
