First Boston and Skegness conference for schools held in Stickney

William Lovell Church of England Academy, in Stickney, held the event, which was hosted by constituency MP Matt Warman, and saw guests including Regional Schools Commissioner Jennifer Bexon Smith, National Leader of Governance Dr Stephen Hopkins, Deputy Leader of Lincolnshire County Council Coun Patricia Bradwell and Assistant Director of Children’s Services for Lincolnshire County Council Heather Sandy.

Those attending were given presentations covering governance, the current educational landscape and the proposed new National Funding Formula before a question and answer session which covered school IT to teacher recruitment and retention.

Mr Warman said the event aimed to say ‘thank you to the dedicated professional school leaders and committed volunteer governors who do so much to ensure every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential’.

He said it also gave schools the chance to gather feedback and ensure a united voice on issues such as the National Funding Formula – potentially providing an unprecedented chance for Lincolnshire’s schools to benefit from a fairer settlement.

“I am heartened that the proposals see many schools in my constituency gain funding but I believe the plans could be made even better by slightly altering the formula to distribute the money very slightly differently so that no school in our area loses out,” he said.
