PUPILS from Donington Cowley Endowed Primary School have been learning all about the life cycle of a potato.

A team from Fresh Produce firm Fenmarc visited the school to speak to reception and year one pupils.

The pupils were treated to a presentation on the cycle of potatoes from field to fork, before being given a fun quiz to guess how many tubers were contained in a crate.

They also met the company’s mascot, Potato Pete, and showed him the potatoes they have been growing in class.

Jo Giggs, from Fenmarc, based in Cambridgeshire, said: “We believe it is important to educate children on how things grow and where their food comes from.”

Teacher Ken Garfield offered thanks to Fenmarc for the ‘fun and informative’ day.
