A VILLAGE school has donated £450 to a cancer charity following fund raising by its pupils.

Gipsey Bridge Primary School Council organised a sponsored read/spell in aid of the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research Charity and raised £434.40.

The Reception children all took part in a sponsored 'tricky word' read.

Following the presentation a parent made an extra donation which brought the total to £450.

The idea and organisation of the event to raise money for the charity came from the School Council.
