Sport minister opens Olympic-inspired new £150k athletic facilities at Tower Road school

Sport minister Hugh Robertson officially opened the £150,000 new athletic facilities at Tower Road Academy in Boston today.

The minister and MP Mark Simmonds unveiled a plaque to mark the end of the two-year project, which was inspired by the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The facilities include a running track, long jump pits, trim trail and ‘multi-sport surface’.

The impressed Government minister said: “If you’re a school or head teacher or governor and asking how to make this happen, get down here and find out how this school has done. Tower school is a blue print, if they can do it every school can do it.

“Mark told me ‘this is a school that’s done this really well, come and see short of the impossible’. I have been absolutely blown away by what I have seen here.”
