STUDENTS at Boston College will soon have a brand new modern teaching block.
Construction of the new 18-room centre for further education is nearing completion and is set to be unveiled this winter.
The dedicated facility has been specially-designed for academic and classroom-based courses and will be used by students studying A-levels and Business Studies among other courses.
Boston College principal Amanda Mosek said: “The new centre will provide a first class teaching and learning environment for 16-18 year-old students.
“It will be a fantastic place to study so I would encourage anyone wanting to come to Boston College next year to apply early to be sure of securing a place.”
The centre includes two state-of-the-art IT suites, with laptop points throughout.
The building’s plans have also incorporated energy-efficient features such as solar panels and a roof designed for thermal mass – ensuring the building stays cool during the summer and warm in the winter.
The building is now in the final stages of construction with a modern interior design and finishing touches now being added.
It is sited at the entrance to the college’s Rochford Campus, providing more convenience to the students studying A Levels at its De Montfort Campus in Mill Road.
Boston College currently offer 16 A Level subjects and the opportunity to combine BTEC’s in subjects such as Media and Forensic Science.
