Customers can get automatic free flood warning with EE and EA

Customers with communications company EE can get flood warnings for free after the business teamed up with the Environment Agency.

Customers in flood risk areas in Lincolnshire will automatically be signed up to the Floodline Warnings Direct Service.

The news comes after a similar pilot in Staffordshire, in March of this year was deemed a ‘successful’ project.

Since 2010 it has seen warnings sent to 600,000 homes and business landline numbers.

Anyone wanting to check their flood risk and register for free flood warnings can sign up online at www.gov.uk/flood or by calling Floodline on 0345 988 1188.

Warnings can be issued by phone, text or email and includes risk of flooding from rivers or the sea.
