Prisoners collect a mountain of fly-tipping

MORE than 65 tonnes of rubbish have been collected by prisoners from HMP North Sea Camp in an operation to tackle fly-tipping.

Operation Fly Swat has cleared thousands of items from 329 different dump sites in Boston borough, including televisions, household waste, electrical items, mattresses and fridges.

The operation, which has been running for 14 weeks, involves prisoners in the final stages of their sentences heading out to river banks, verges and ditches to clear as much rubbish as possible.

It is a spin of from the Big Boston Clean Up and involves a number of local agencies.
