A PRIMARY school is hoping for a green light when its plans for a new environmentally-friendly building are put before Boston Borough Council.
Boston West Primary School has submitted plans for a stand-alone eco building at its site on Sussex Avenue in the town, which would be built on a part of the grounds currently designated as a soft play area for children at the school.
The building would have windows designed to maximise natural daylight into rooms, in a bid to minimise the need for the use of electric lights, and openable rooflights and ‘trickle vents’ would be put in to provide natural ventilation.
Sun cool-type glazing would also be put in to minimise solar gain at the building.
Access to the new building will remain exactly the same as it is at the moment, as will the exit.
The application was submitted earlier in the month and will be considered by planners at the authority in the near future.
