Wind farm inquiry due for summer

A PUBLIC inquiry will be held into plans for a wind farm at East Heckington in the summer.

Ecotricity (Next Generation Ltd) wants to build a 22-turbine farm at a site north west of Swineshead Bridge, just inside the North Kesteven District Council area.

In October Boston Borough Council’s planning committee considered a consultation it had received from the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, then Chris Huhne.

The committee said it would not support the wind farnm but also that it would not formally request a public inquiry.

However, the Secretary of State, now Ed Davey, has called a public inquiry and an inspector has been appointed to hold it on his behalf.

The inquiry meeting is scheduled to be held at Boston West Golf Centre, Hubbert’s Bridge, at 10am on July 31, 2012.

The borough council committee’s concerns centred on the authority’s environmental health manager’s misgivings over the quality of the noise information – particularly in respect of background noise data.
