A medieval Robin Hood themed fun day is taking place in Boston’s Beech Wood on the weekend.
The Knights of Skirbeck will be there along with ‘Robin Hood’ and his nemesis the ‘Sheriff of Nottingham’.
The re-enactment group has joined forces with the Boston Woods Trust to bring the event to the area, which promises to offer good old-fashioned family fun.
There will be a medieval fashion show, a farcical panto-style performance, competitions, games, fighting knights and the chance to try on their armour and handle their weapons.
The event, situated in the woods off Fenside Road, will run from 10am-4pm each day. Admission is free, although there may be a small charge for some activities.
Modern refreshments will be on sale, along with medieval-style jewellery and crafts. On Saturday children can enter their shield designs for judging, and on Sunday there will be a medieval fancy dress competition. Both are free to enter.
Both days there will be a full living history encampment to explore – including a well-stocked armoury and working kitchen.
The event has been organised by Coun Tiggs Keywood-Wainwright.
