A plucky youngster from Boston has had 17 inches of her Rapunzel-like hair cut off for a children’s charity.

Lucy Rollinson, 11, wanted to have her long tresses cut so, rather than binning the hair, offered to donate it to a worthy cause.

She found out about the Little Princess Trust which takes donations of hair and makes them into wigs for children who have lost their own through alopecia or treatment for cancer.

The St Mary’s Primary School pupil, with help from mum Rachel, set up a
Justgiving fundraising page and initially only expected to raise £40 – but the total has so far reached a whopping £293.50.
