Golfers teed off to help raise more than £2,000 towards a fund that raises cash in memory of a woman who died of a brain tumour.
Margaret and Fred Clarke, of Kirton, have secured a strong fundraising legacy for their daughter Katie, who died in 2000, aged 24.
Since then they have strived – along with Katie’s friends – to help raise money into research to ensure others do not have to face the same ordeal.
A key part of their charity campaign is an annual event at Boston West Golf Club.
This year’s golf day saw 33 teams tee off on August 14.
A heavy rain shower on the day failed to dampen spirits – with £2,290 raised in total.
That sum means £90,000 has now been raised for the Katie Clarke Memorial Fund in the past 14 years.
Mr Clarke thanked the golf club for hosting the charity day and for the ground staff and those who worked on the bar and catering teams.
He also praised the ladies in the ‘half way house’ for providing cakes, to those who helped with the raffle – which raised £630 alone – and the starters John Penderton and G. Rodwell.
