Two women have so far raised £5,000 in their crusade to help young cancer patients.

Val Gillick, from Gosberton, and Amanda Smith, from Boston, collected £2,300 towards their total with a Mad Hatter’s Charity Ball at The Poachers Hotel, Kirton Holme, last month.

Amanda said: “We want to thank all of the businesses and the people who have supported us.”

The pair appealed in our pages for prizes for the ball raffle and donations from individuals included a flight simulation experience and a brand new scooter. Among businesses supporting the event were a Holbeach photographic studio and Boston-based Coneys, Cammacks and Wilcox and Carter.

All of the money raised goes to help children and teenagers treated at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, which looks after patients from this area.
